SEASON FINISHED
15/05/05 - Tigers 0 v 0 Vipers Youth
Excellent last match of the season result lads, you have finished on form. Vipers have finished mid-table and Tigers will not have to play them again for at least 18 months so no regrets there. Next fivtures on the 28th when we compete in the Heybridge 5 aside competition and no doubt meet up with the Signets for a third time. Good Luck in the 5 aside Lads
01/05/05- Vipers 0 v 1 HBFC Tigers
What a superb result - shows what can happen with a good referee. Well done lads - something to be proud of. Lets see if we can repeat it on 15th when we play them at home .
NEW MESSAGE FROM TONY
Well lads things have certainly moved on and yes I am still in the UK. Almost boarded the plane to the USA when I got an offer I could not refuse. Was approached by Grassroots Football to do some coaching with an Arsenal Easter holiday course in Southend, enjoyed the experience and learnt some new coaching techniques. Then received an e-mail from Grassroots Football asking me into the office for a chat. End result I have been offered a full-time coaching position, chance to take my FA level 3 course via Arsenal next year and most of all doing what I have always wanted to do - coach football as a career.
So lads I will still be about and will possibly continue training a few of the HBFC keepers . Keep enjoying your football and I will see you all soon.
MESSAGE FROM TONY
Well lad's it was a sad day for me when I stood down as your manager but the chance to go and coach in America was one I could not refuse. I will be gone for about 6 months but will keep up-to-date with your progress and I know that Adam will keep you on your toes till the season ends. Next season John Hammond is going to take over as manager and I daresay there will be a lot more liason with the Lions in preparation for the U/11's season when you will no doubt become one team again. It seems impossible that it was 3 years ago that we all got together to form the HBFC U/7's team and then split into 2 teams to form the Tigers and Lions. It was definitely the best move to make as we went on to win the Dengie U/7 league and we even managed to keep our heads in the U/8 Blackwater Div last season.
This season we have struggled but that has alot to do with lack of players in the first half of the season and the fact that we are playing against the best of the Blackwater and last seasons Dengie winners. I am sure that next season when the team returns to the Dengie Div there will be some different results.
I have always praised my lads for their keeness, loyalty and most of all they never get downhearted. After every match they are still keen to continue and this has shown in the results lately (we don't get beaten by so many goals now). The couple of draws that we have had show that the team can play good football.
It's been a pleasure to be the Tiger's manager and I hope that the lads have gained as much experience from my coaching as I have from them.
Good Luck lads for the rest of the season and be warned I will be coming to watch you at some stage next season so keep training.
